A Card To Create Business

NSW businesses have been urged to sign up for the Seniors Card program to tap into the fastest growing consumer sector in Australia.

The NSW Government introduced the Seniors Card scheme to encourage older people to enjoy an active and healthy retirement.

It is a free, discount card providing members with access to NSW Government concessions and business discounts.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) predicts that over the next seven years, population increases in NSW will be most pronounced among people aged 55 to 70 and those aged 80 and over. These projections indicate that the largest increase will be in the 60-64 age group (expected to increase by 53.7 per cent).

Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care media officer Lucy Limbers said one way businesses could tap into this expanding market was to become a NSW Seniors Card business partner.

There is no fee charged to become a partner and businesses can benefit through free website promotions and point of sale material, and exclusive opportunities to advertise in the annual Seniors Card Discount Directory.

NSW Seniors card currently has over 890,000 members and 85 per cent of eligible NSW seniors are members of the program.

A survey of Seniors Card members found that 94 per cent of cardholders found their card useful and more than one third used their card more than once a week.

It is free to join the NSW Seniors Card Business Partner program. For more information phone 1300 364 758 or email business@seniorscard.nsw.gov.au or apply online at www.seniorscard.net.au
